Description

When I first saw this pleather-clad dancing bunny girl I knew I wanted to make the costume ^_-. I re-vamped it a bit and wore the updated version while judging the dance contest at K2K.

BODYSUIT: The material used for the bodysuit is PVC (the kind that stretches). I had to attach lining to the non-shiny side of the PVC using "iron-on" stitch witchery before beginning to work with the pattern. After the lining was attached I used Simplicity's (#9983) pattern to create the bodysuit. It had to be 'taken-in' a great deal. I altered the pattern so that the zipper would appear in the back rather than the front, and also made sure to leave off the sleeves and cut the legs into shorts. Next, I tried on the bodysuit to determine where to make cuts for the side holes, scoop neck, and to ensure that the shorts were even. After making the necessary cuts, I tried it on once more to determine if any further alterations were necessary, and also to mark where I intended to paint on the star. I used pearlescent white puff paint to create the star (it came out looking kinda silvery *_*).

BOOTS: The boots were actually made in two parts so that I can alternate between regular shoes and rollerblades! For the shoes, I took some old platform sandles and covered them in PVC. Then I used to same paint mentioned above to paint on the designs and wheels, making them look like Comet's skates. The 'thigh-hi' portions were made by tracing a pattern around my legs, and then sewing garters to the inside-tops of them. The stripe down the side was painted on using the same pearlescent white puff paint.

WRIST BANDS: I bought one of those mini feather boas, cut it into pieces that would fit around my wrists, and stitched them together.

EARS: The ears are made out of mat board that was cut into ear shapes, covered in PVC, and attached to a headband using fabric glue and masking tape. The white parts were painted on.

WIG: I bought a wig on eBay....but ended-up wearing one that was borrowed from Cat.
